Cheap apartments in Salamanca

IMG_3384Salamanca, in September, is a city that is completely renewed. Each new course in Salamanca begins with new people from different parts of Spain and other countries. Some come to study at the University, others are part of the Erasmus program seeking to learn the Sapanish language while continuing with his studies and come from European countries and other are teachers and workers, who change their destiny.

For some it is the first time they leave their home, and are surprised at how hard it is to find home in a different city: they have to visit dozens or hundreds of apartments that are not like what we advertise, small flats, dark and badly furnished ... and furthermore, the apartments are not cheap!
And, in these times of crisis, the price is an important factor!: We have little money, yes, but we want to live somewhere "decent" and nice! But it is not always easy!
When looking for a furnished apartment, we often find that many adverts say that the apartments are fully furnished apartments but they are not! To live in a comfortably way, we have to do a considerable expense to properly equip the apartment: at least buy all the kitchen utensils, and linens and towels, and sometimes the apartment lacks the most basic equipment such as appliances ....

And if we add to the price to the monthly rental rate the costs of the supplies (electricity, water, heating, internet connection, etc) that normally are never included in the price we find that our budget does not reach us!

And if you need to rent the apartment for a period less than one year, the mission is almost impossible!

In short, the experience of finding home in our new destination, in this case in Salamanca, it is usually a bit complicated.

But thankfully, as we already told you in another item in this blog,  in HomesForTravellers, we can offer rentals for long stay in Salamanca (always less than one year) at a reasonable price with significant benefits:

  • The apartments are fully renovated and fully furnished.
  • No need to apply for a bank guarantee, or you have to introduce your salary or employment contract.
  • All expenses and supplies are included in the price: water, electricity, heating, air conditioning, internet access, etc.. No need to hire the supplies you will use, with corresponding savings in time and money ...! The monthly rental price is fixed, no extra costs.
  • The amount of the Security Deposit is lower and, in many cases, simply ask the details of your credit card as a guarantee.
  • No need to make a selection. We we have already done for you. We can assure you that the apartments are fully equipped and in good areas, either in the center or very well served by public transport.

Estudio Azul-Salamanca-Santa Marta (51)Our apartments in Salamanca are mainly aimed at people who come to Salamanca for a season, whether to study in the University or to people who have moved to work in Salamanca and looking for a comfortable apartment at a good price. And what better price € 340 per month for a in the price? Or a for only 300 euros?

And also you can  enjoy the independence of living on your own and you can invite your friends whenever you want.
In these times of crisis we must tune in spending and avoid surprises that can give us the supplies bills!

Life in Salamanca

“Salamanca, que enhechiza la voluntad de volver a ella a todos los que de la apacibilidad de su vivienda han gozado”.

This sentence puts into the mouth of Licenciado Vidriera by Miguel de Cervantes  and is written on a wall opposite the Cathedral, the Plaza de Anaya in the fifteenth century is in effect today.

How is life in Salamanca?
For those who still do not know Salamanca and you need to find reasons for choosing it among many others Spanish university, here are a few reasons that will help you decide:
First of all, Salamanca is a university townEverything revolves around the students and the university. This makes it undoubtedly a special place, as the percentage of young people is much greater than in any other city and there are numerous activities and entertainment culturares
addressed to you.

The second, to give an order, the city itselfSalamanca is a historic town, small and manageable.

When I say history I mean not only the monuments that have them, and many, but the feeling is like to feel that the students have walked the same streets for over 500 years.

Size is also importantIn Salamanca there is no distance. There are many pedestrian streets, and you can move from one place to another in minutes, on foot or by bike.

This greatly favors social relations. It's easy to find your friends on the street and usually have a coffee or a beer without having planned. In Salamanca you do not need to "get" with your friends, you need to plan your social life, but arises. And this really makes it different from other cities.
And, above all, Salamanca is a beautiful city, very nice to walk around, to live. I myself, of Salamanca, yet every day I discover beautiful corners did not know. I never get tired of walking through it.
I hope you have served these comments useful. This is only a short introduction to the life of Salamanca. The following posts I will comment more practical aspects such as the type and price of housing, the cost of living, etc.

Salamanca Accommodation: Living in a Shared Flat

And now let's start with the practical aspects. How and where students live in Salamanca and how much cost it?

In Salamanca, the students mainly live in "shared flat" and some in University Residences. Few live in apartments or studios, mainly for economic reasons, but as I discuss later, is an option that should not be dismissed, since there are apartments at reasonable prices for those who value privacy and independence above all other things.

And finally, there are students who live in familiesThis case usually occurs mainly in Spanish students.

Each housing option has its advantages and the choice depends on various factors.

As we have been to talk about the practical aspects, starting with the cheapest option, which is to live in an apartment.

An apartment is usually shared a house with 3 or 4 bedrooms where students share common areas: living room, kitchen and bathroomsAlso share the cost of supplies: water. Electricity, telephone and Internet in many cases the heat.

Each student has his own room where you can study and have their privacy, but must respect the "rules" of the house in cleanliness, noise and hours, etc.

In Salamanca there are many shared flats for studentsPrices vary depending on location, equipment and furniture, m2, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms. The average price for rooms in shared apartments is around 200 euros per month, which must be added the cost of electricity, internet, etc, ranging between 20-70 euros per month, depending on the number of people who share the floor and the services they have.

For those who are looking for a shared flat I suggest La Casa de Las FloresIt's a nice house with 11 bedrooms, all with private bathrooms, a large living room  and a large fully equipped kitchen. The main advantages of this home are:

  • You will have your room with your own bathroom
  • Common areas are spacious and well equipped
  • The house has free Internet access
  • All the bills are included in the price

The price of the room, ranging between 250  and 350 euros  including all bills!

Enjoy a multicultural environment to share a flat with people from different countries and cultures, graduate students or Erasmus who have in Spanish the common vehicle of relationship.

The house is next to the River Tormes, Santa Marta de Tormes, just 3 km from the center of Salamanca, with direct bus to the university campus and a nice bike path along the river, which is used by some people currently living there. The area has all the amenities, shops, bars, pharmacy, banks, and is very quiet.

By September there are only four vacancies. Do not miss this opportunity to live comfortably in Salamanca in an shared flat with the advantage of having your private bathroom and a very affordable rental price, with all expenses included in the price!

And, check out the prices, pictures of each room and common areas and book your room online through this link. Also there you can book your room online.

Salamanca Accommodation: Living in a Private Apartment or Studio Apartment

If you are one of those, but have many friends and love being with them, when you get home you like having your own space and privacy, surely prefer to live in an apartment.
Of course many times have you had the choice, because the price of the apartments for your own  you could not afford it. It was not just the rent, but for all expenses to be paid to live in an apartment, light, communications, heating, telephone, internet, etc..
Furthermore, it is often not easy to find an apartment for a few months, that lasts your course or your temporary work.
In the apartments we suggest you do not have these problems. Prices are very reasonable: from 300 euros per month or 10 euros per day you can live in a studio with all expenses included in the price!
The independent one-bedroom apartments are priced at 340 euros a month, a little more than studies, but more space.

In addition, our apartments and studios are fully equipped with up bedding and towels, you need only bring your personal items.

The equipment is as follows:

You see, you have the option to live independently for very little money.
These prices are for stays longer than 6 months in cozy studios with balcony or one-bedroom apartments. Is the total price, no extra costs, since all expenses are included in the price.

Salamanca: Accommodation in Families and University Residences

They are usually the Language Schools or the University of Salamanca who will provide accommodation in a family or in a university residenceTypically charge for the allocation and management of said housing about 30 euros.

FAMILY
The homestay is used mainly by students of Spanish who want to practice your Spanish as much as possible while also learning and experiencing the local culture.
Prices per person per day guideline are as follows:

Double room: 19.50 €

Single room: 21.50 €
These prices include lodging, three meals and, where appropriate, food for the trips organized by the Language School.
Optionally, the student may request laundry and ironing. The price will be around € 12.50 per week and must be paid directly to the family.
No doubt this is an interesting option for visitors to Salamanca for a very short time and want to practice your Spanish. But without doubt, have less privacy and independence for children staying in an apartment or an apartment.

In a university residence

In the residence halls will have the opportunity to get in touch with people from very different backgrounds but have in Spanish the common vehicle of relationship.
Halls of residence owned by the University of Salamanca and associates have single or double rooms with private bathroom, internet access, and full board.

These prices include lodging, three meals and, where appropriate, food for the trips organized by the Language School you attend or the University of Salamanca
Since homes do not have them, residents are advised to carry towels for personal use.The apartments and shared rooms that you suggested in previous posts linen and towels are included, and you need not bring anything more than your personal stuff.
The residential accommodation is comfortable because you do not have to take care of organizing your meals, but has the disadvantage that you will welcome you to the schedules and specific standards.
